im trying to write a persuasive speech, and i just want to know what a lot of people think about it...

so do you think that holidays should be a part of curriculum (im going to focus on elementary schools)? during the winter holidays would it be appropriate if a teacher taught about different cultures and how they celebrate winter? im not saying to teach the religion, but the kids should be exposed to other cultures, and religion and culture go pretty much hand in hand.....

what do you think?

thanks for your opinion!

I think that it is important that students learn about the history of our country through holidays. It is also a great way to learn about multiculturalism especially at this time of the year.

Hmm..I suppose it would be alright as long as they are learning equally about each culture and the teaching doesn't turn personal and focus on only one culture. It could be an interesting experience for the kids.

One person's beliefs may not be another's. I think it's disrespectful to other faiths who don't share in holidays to have it forced on them because the majority considers it the norm.

As far as teaching the children about other cultures...that's great, but it shouldn't be done just in the wintertime, but throughout the school year. When I was a child, it was called "social studies"

Every holiday should be celebrated that at least one student in the classroom celebrates.
