I live in Jacksonville and want to head down to see the Dec 6th launch. I was told that it's pricey to go watch the launch inside the space center but that you can go just south of cape canaveral and watch it from the beach. I'm not sure where though. Could someone tell me where is a good place...maybe what exit off of 95? Thanks

I went to a launch once and the general public is about 11 miles from the pad. Anywhere along Hwy 1 along the Indian river is the usual places people go to see a launch as well as Cocoa beach but that's actually a liitle further away. Canaveral seashores to the north is closed during launches.
.
Unless you have written to your congressman and requested V.I.P. tickets in advance (that's how you get them) you will not be able to go into the Kennedy Space Center to see it from the V.I.P. area which is nine miles from the launch pad.
Since you live in Jacksonville you might think about doing that for a future launch.

.There are several hotels on the stretch along the Indian river near Titusville and south on Hwy 1.
.
I was lucky enough to get a room at one and although the the launch was postponed one day I was able to stay on for it. You will need binoculars. The hotels all have NASA TV.
.
Since the Shuttle is so far away they say that a night launch is really the show to see.
.
Good luck.

No problem. Just follow the crowds. There's plenty of room and view. I've done it and it's definitely worth it.
