It's now 1:45 AM on Tuesday morning (EST) and the only thing that seems definite that came out of Monday night's dealings between the Yankees/Twins and Red Sox/Twins is that, from the Yankees, the Twins want a combination of Melky Cabrera, Phil Hughes, and Ian Kennedy as the third player, to which the Yankees said most definitely no. It doesn't seem like the Sox have done anything towards a deal including Ellsbury more than they had by late Sunday/early Monday. However, the New York Times seems to think the Twins don't want Kennedy, which contradicts what seems to be the general opinion elsewhere.
This is what I've surmised over the past two hours or so. ><

Most likely sometime this week if the Twins are really interested in doing a deal. Remember, Santana does not become a free agent until after the 2008 season and the Twins have time to wait for the best offer.

Hopefully we trade him soon, and I hope the Twins get some great players out of this trade! I personally won't be sad when he leaves the Twins, he's a good player but I don't think he is a "team player" and can be too arrogant so he should fit in with Jeter and A-Rod. HAHA Just Kidding Yanks fans, I actually really like A-Rod! But unfortunetly not enough people in MN are loyal fans so therefore we don't have the big bank accounts. It seems like half the people in our state won't even go downtown to watch a game...Pathetic.

As soon as Steinbrenner caves in with the third player the Twins want.(OR->the Bosox claim him with the Lester-Ellsbury deal and cinch a playoff spot and (another World Series ring)-the Yankees should not be SO stupid, come on and give them Kennedy in the deal and end this circus!

there is no deadline , that's just the little arrogant prick steinnbrenner trying to push his weight around again . they think there the almighty Yankees and a little team like the twins will buckle under a little pressure from them . and ill be the first to say it puts one heck of a smile on my face to see a team do this to the Yankees

Im from minnesota so i dont want to c Santana go but i still want us to get something out of it. The last i heard is that the twins want Melkey Cabrara, Philip Hughes, And Robinson Cano But the yankees dont want to give up Cano (I dont blame them). And also that the yankees said the twins have till today or the deal is off.
