Wal-Mart, Goodwill, consignment shops, yard sales, ebay (you can search within a certain number of miles of your zip code for larger items like cribs) and Target are some of the best places.

You are far better off with used, like a Once Upon a Child or specifically a store for "gently" used baby items. You'll find walmart clothes are cheaper for a reason, the fabrics are ickier, the elastic stretches, things shrink like crazy, or snaps are hard to close. We were lucky that most of our clothes were hand me downs, and from kids before manufacturing got so cheap. Other than that, scour clearance racks.
However for the crib go with new, Consider Ikea.

Once Upon a Child, I don't know if they have those in your area but child consignment shops are wonderful, you can find very nice gently used things for a more than reasonable price. They are great for clothes to, I have found some great buys at these places! Just check your local yellow pages.

Well, for the most part my mom shopped at consignment stores when I was a baby. Not only could she buy me gently used clothes, toys and other items, but she could also take them back and get credit for them because it was a consignment shop. Babies outgrown things fast, so although places such as Wal*Mart have decent prices, unless you are planning on having another child consignment shops are a better way to shop, because you can trade items in for ones your child will need as it grows.

buy in a bundle on ebay. If you are picky about it being new, walmart is your best bet. You can normally get a whole group of clothes off ebay for about .25 to .50 cents each

craigslist (for cribs)
Thrift store for clothes OR...
Check w/ other Mom's who have kids a little older than yours. They are always looking for somebody to give their hand me downs to. You might end up getting a whole load of them. Playgroups end up being a big clothes/toys trading club.
