Honestly I know the answer but i would like to see other thoughts about this. Just because im muslim why does everyone assume you are a terrorist? Or just because you where a hijab you are under oppression? Why cant we give people a chance to show their true colors before we judge them? I try to give everyone time to show themselves before i label them. I read a few questions and the saddened me. Are all ______ mean? Why would you base a judgement on a WHOLE GROUP just because of a few actions? There is good and bad in everyone. Bad christians, muslims, jews, buddhists, black, white, mexican, asian, whatever. SORRY FOR WRITING LOTS OF STUFF BUT I HAD TO ASK! ITS AN OPINNON SO SPEAK YOUR MIND!

I think it is human nature. If you see a lion, you lump them with all lions, do you not? Think about it. If a dog bites you, will you not have a fear of all dogs after that? If you fall into a creek and nearly drown, will you not always have a fear of water? So, if a black person lives on your street and doesn't take care of his property, you judge that all black people are like that. Representation. To overcome these generalities, you must be educated. It is a survival mechanism. and quite automatic. If a muslim terrorist attacks our country, then if you see another muslim, instant fear.

It's sad but true. I think in your case -- a group of Muslims did a horrific thing to the United States on 9/11, and this makes people very edgy of the race. If all the sudden some Italians blew up the Capitol and WHite House where thousands were killed -- then most of us would be wary of Italians from then on. It is a judgmental reaction to terror. On a plane if I were sitting across from two Muslim men I would be extremely nervous. I just wouldn't be able to control that reaction because of the past. I'm sure there are many, many lovely Muslim people in the world -- but right now they are targeted as suspicious. Same reason most people would be afraid of walking into a dark alley where some black guys are just hanging. Society has been ingrained to feel this way. You are right about one thing -- There is good and bad in everyone. I apologize if I have looked at you twice in passing -- but when my natural guard is up. It's called caution and is a way of protecting yourself. It is sad that this world is full of so much hatred and intolerance. Hope my answer helped you understand this issue a little bit better. Peace to you and your family. Peace to mine...

This is a hypocritical question. Just because a few people on YA write mean stuff about Muslims all white people think your an oppressed terrorist?
My sister is married to a Muslim and I think he's a wonderful man, and I have alot of respect for women who wear a hijab, especailly younger women, in school, under so much peer pressure already.
Don't judge all non Muslims based on a few trolls on a forum.

Sad to say a lot of people are close minded. I make it my business to get to know people on an individual bases. I call very few people friends. I try the spirit of a person by the spirit of a person. I believe that we all should love one another and treat everyone right. I like to know where a persons heart is regardless to what others say. I know that none of us are perfect but if each person got to know each person they meet for them self we would understand one another better. I'm sorry you have to experience cruelty at the hands of strangers but know that there are still good people in this world. Be blessed!

that is just how society thinks. as a black woman a lot of people think i'm on welfare or live in the ghetto. when im actually college educated and hold a good job and live in a nice home in the suburbs. People are controlled by the media and if the media protrays a certain group to be a certain way, society will feed into it. it so sad it has to be this way.

That was a good example. If a dog bites you, won't you be afraid of other dogs? It's close-minded... kind of like stereotypes. You can never judge a whole to have a similar characteristic--I always say the words "not all" or something like that when I give my opinion on something. As much as possible, we shouldn't label or generalize things, especially people.

That's a well query. The factor is while there are any tremendous agencies of folks, regardless of how nice their intent, there are going to be a few downright nasty folks who consistently have the end result of giving a foul title to every body else. I believe folks are notably harsh on Christians on this case for the reason that the ordinary teachings of Christianity are meant to be goodness and kindness. What makes me unhappy is while folks reject a religion for the reason that a few follower of that religion indignant them. I do not know the way often I've instructed folks, the doctrine is superb, the folks are not.

People who opine about a group in that manner only exhibit a narrowness of thoughts. Their reasoning is absurd and they are eager to brand the community. It is a means of feeling proud of one's clan at the expense of another.
Also the frequency at which a community involves in unlawful activities sometimes forces even the broad minded and the reasonable into misinterpreting the intentions of the people from the community.

With Muslims, it so seems to appear (right or wrong) That the rest of the group goes along with them. (Fear?) Not confined to Muslims though. Check out Nazi Germany, The Southern slave states, Russia under Stalin. t goes down thru history and unfortunately is human Nature. (My best friend is an Iranian Muslim).
GOOD POINT lync

there's a word that i use alot on yahoo answers : stereotype. but, even though some people are prejudiced, that doesn't mean every one is. most of the racists are that way because they're frightened from 9/11 and this is the way they deal with it. or maybe they have unhappy lives so they vent on others. but only SOME non-muslims are that way. lots are great people.
