in windows 95, 98, ME:
go to run command and type in 'winipcfg'

in windows NT, 2000, XP, and Vista:
open command prompt and type in 'ipconfig /all'

These are built in commands in your operating system. You do not need to have an internet connection to use these, and can help you troubleshoot weather or not your computer may be connected to a router on a local network or the internet.
