It is surprising. If Michigan had wanted him, they should have waited until after LSU's bowl game to ask permission to speak with him. I think Michigan put him in a position where he had to say no to their offer.

I'm still not convinced he's really staying. Reports say he has agreed to a contract to stay at LSU, but I still haven't heard that he did, in fact, sign it. ESPN put him in a real bad spot by breaking that story hours before the SEC championship. He had to do something, and as a coach he put an end to any distractions for his players. If he would've admitted he was leaving LSU right before that game, I seriously doubt that team would have played the same, and probably wouldn't be SEC champions. He said all that because it benefits the team. It gives them a sense of unity. That's his job as the coach of LSU. But after the big game with Ohio State, I wouldn't be surprised if there was suddenly a "flaw" in the contract that he has already agreed to that opens the door for talks with Michigan.

I would have stayed at LSU as well. UM is losing 3 stand outs on offense in Hart, Henne, and Jake Long who is one of the best if not the best OL in the nation. Not sure about what recruits they have coming in, but LSU has turned into a top program and they continue to build their powerhouse in one of the toughest conf in the nation. I would say he has a lot more to look forward to at LSU than Michigan.

Not really, I know Les Miles likes Michigan, but at the same time he is going to play for a national title at LSU. Also Louisiana is a great place for recruiting.

Longhorns fan,,, that's one of the big problems.. Michigan has never been known for Paying big bucks for a coach. Even without contract negotiations this year,, Miles salary was to jump up to the 3rd. highest paid coach in the SEC because of winning the sec championship. If he wins the NC game,, no telling what he will get. This doesn't include the bonuses for winning the SEC west.. SEC Championship,, or the NC Game. He will be a well paid coach to stay at LSU.

I'd stay at LSU. They have built a better program and have a better recruiting class coming in then Michigan. Michigan is going down while LSU goes up. I think it is classy but he also knows where he will have the most success and it is at LSU.

I hope that lsu stomps a mudhole in ohio state. all the rumors made it sound like it was a sure thing that he was going to michigan. then poof les miles did the right thing and stayed with the right team that he has put together and did the right thing. i congratulate les miles for his decision. But did you hear the new michigan rumor? The new michigan rumor on all the sport talk stations up here in michigan is that michigan has been granted permission by south carolina to talk with steve spurrier. i hope that steve spurrier shoots them down to.

Obviously Michigan didn't offer him enough money to jump ship. Don't kid yourself into thinking Miles stayed at LSU because he's an honorable man. The only reason he's not known as the biggest scumbag in football is because Nick Saban already holds the title.

He probably stayed where the money was. LSU had to pony up some cash to avoid loosing Bo and Les before the BCS game.

He was cornered into it. That's why he was so pissed during that press conference. He couldn't really come out then and say he was leaving. He looked like a big phoney during that press conference. He's had weeks to put this story to rest and never did.
