i have a friend with a itegral molded shower drain that is leaking is there any way to seall that? i know you can seal the drains with a screw on type mount but i believe this one is molded into the fiber galss shower floor, HELP!!!

ok im not a moron and dont need a plumber i know how to take one apart and seal it with plumbers putty "big deal maker" i wanted know if there is a way to do that with a sealed mold on unit.

they make two types of drains,
1- that you push a rubber seal around the pipe that may have to be replaced
2- the other is a spanner type that you have to tighten down with a bar that is supplied with the drain that you tighten with a screw driver and a wrench to compress the pipe

If this does not fix your problem then you could do it gauge out the top of the piece to expose the pipe and mix epoxy and let it flow into the groves you made to seal the pipe, just let it set up long enough to seal your leak

The shower is separate from the drain. Call a lic. plumber if you guys are not sure how to repair it. It will need to be taken apart and resealed with plumbers putty and reinstalled.
