Are there any names that you love the meaning or signifcance of, but could never bring yourself to name a child because they are just, well, so UGLY? Here are mine...
Beulah -- Biblical name; means "she who is to be married." God calls the nation of Israel this Israel turns back to Him after a period of rebellion. Beautiful meaning, but now it conjures up images of a very large woman living in a trailer park in the South.
Hephzibah -- Biblical name; means "my delight is in her." This was also the name of a sweet little girl in George Eliot's "Silas Marner." But it's just awful, awful, awful!
Artemis -- Greek goddes of wisdom, chastity, and the hunt. Who wouldn't want a daughter who was wise, pure, and strong? Pair it with a one-syllable last name, however, and your daughter will sound like a Transformer. "I am Artemis Gray"... or is she really Optimus Prime?

To keep in the tradition of Biblical names here:
Eunice (happily victorious) sounds to much like eunuch (castrated man)
Barnabas, or Barnaby (son of comfort) Reminds me of an uneducated hick who eat with his fingers
Bernice (victorious) maybe Barnabas's sister??
Clement (mild, merciful, kind) Makes me think of an old man who doesn't do much of anything
Damaris (young cow... what GIRL wants that name??)
Edna (pleasure) I can't hear this name without picturing a cow... don't know why, but I can't.
Jerusha (married, possessed) This is a HORRIBLE name for a child.... to old fashioned.
Lemuel (dedicated to God) Just plain UGLY!
Philemon (loving, friendly) Unless you want this kid to get beaten up every day in school, stay away!!
Ok, I think that's enough for now.

Princess, Star (or Starr), Miracle, or Eternity, or Patience. Those names have "common" meanings, but how is this child, or future adult, suppose to walk confidently up to someone in a professional business setting - don't care if your working or just buying a house - and say, "Hi....This is my name..."??? It's UGLY!!! Although your list was great too, and much more creative.

Cordelia. I wanted to name my daughter this, but my husband thinks it's hideous - most agree. As for Artemis, that is the name of my 6-toed cat! Not a good name for a child...
