dvds have much better resolution (picture quality), plus they have the ability to produce surround sound. Not to mention they are much cheaper and faster to make. They also can hold more data than a VHS and are less likely to break. Same goes for the players that play them.

probably cost and the fact tht its just easier all around. u can pause and do all this stuf with dvd that u couldnt do before. i do miss vhs tho. i cant watch little mermaid

There smaller, and cheaper to make.VHS you have to put in on film, but DVD you just burn it to the disk.
