The Bush Administration’s National Security Adviser, Stephen Hadley, today stated that President Bush has known the results of the NIE Iran report for several months:

===

QUESTION: Steve, what is the first time the president was given the inkling that something? I’m not clear on this. Was it months ago, when the first information started to become available to intelligence agencies?

HADLEY: [W]hen was the president notified that there was new information available? We’ll try and get you a precise answer. As I say, it was, in my recollection, is in the last few months. Whether that’s October — August-September, we’ll try and get you an answer for that.

===

Yet, for the past few months Bush has been relentlessly beating the drum about Iran’s nuclear intentions and capabilities.

Or, maybe it’s just another case of the same “bad intelligence” that convinced him to invade Iraq.

No people in the world want to be Republicans more than Iranians (who else shows up at a protest wearing coats and ties?). So, maybe you are right and they should be feared—but not for their nonexistent nuclear weapons.

It was on Bush’s watch that North Korea developed nuclear weapons.

And, Kim Jong never punked Clinton to his face the way he has Bush; just for a laugh and to show the world what a pathetic fool Bush is.

Who said anything about believing Iran?

The National Intelligence Estimate is a report produced by the National Intelligence Council (NIC) – which charged with strategic planning for the entire US Intelligence community. They report directly to America’s Director of National Intelligence.

It is their report, for crying out loud.

“Will Bush really bomb Iran? The rhetoric is getting stronger, the sanctions tougher and military planning more detailed. Iran is now the focus of attention in Washington”

“A senior Pentagon source, who remembers the growing drumbeat of war before the invasion of Iraq, believes Bush is preparing for military action before he leaves office in January 2009. “This is for real now. I think he is signalling he is going to do it,” he said.”

“The US is in an advanced stage of “intensive planning” for a possible bombing attack on Iran, a process that began last year at the instance of President George W Bush, a report has said.”

I have not hear any member of the administration "beating the drum" for war with Iran. And the latest report looks like the people writing it said "we don't know whats going on in Iran". And if you look at statements from the Iranian president and government would you say they are confirming or denying the intention to aquire nukes?

Anyone who trusts Iran with any remote possibility of wanting to build a nuclear bomb has got a serious mental problem.

These people have refused to cooperate with the UN.

They have stated that Israel should be wiped off the map

They have insisted that the Holocaust never happened.

They have held diplomats as hostages.

They deny wanting a bomb yet turned over blue prints for one.

They have refused to stop processing Uranium even though they have been offered help with the power they claim it is for.

And you want to believe them.

I don't believe this.

I fail to understand how his discussing Iran's nuclear intentions are counter to the NIE report. Of course, it's nuanced idiots like you that were also taking this approach with North Korea.

yeah, they're obviously lies. you can't get your info about the world from bush, you have to go to the source. and wars in the middle east are about oil and raising their prices so oil companies get even more money.

My personal opinion is that he's merely trying to divert attention from his complete ineptitude and rally/unify the country against a "common enemy/threat" real or not ......

Yes. It makes one wonder why it's so important for them to have wars in the middle east. Hmm...
