your dad is right he wants you to be the best player you can be he wants you to not make mistakes even if it is the littlest of the mistakes. What your coach is doing is called good coaching. If you listen to what he is yelling at you for then you will go far and in the future you goin see and understand that your coach was a good coach he was hard on me cause if he wasn't hard on you you won't go no where only still making the same mistakes you will be making

My coach is like the with the good players. He believes in you and thinks you can be great, so he wants to push you to see what you can do. Other people he expects failure from, but he pays special attention to you because you must be a special basketball player, someone who can do better than all of them. I'm serious dude, that's what my coach does. I hear really good coaches are like that, it's like when you're ahead 60 points at a game, at half time he doesn't say "good job, well done" he says "what can we do to work harder and do better?" He's always pushing you to help you be the best you can be. Good luck.

I agree with your dad. I know what you are going through, went through it my freshman year. Work hard and just remember that you are becoming a better athlete.
I was given a hard time freshman year. A really hard time. And I was told to work my *** off even harder. but after the season was over i got a talk about stepping up to the plate and being the next year's leader, and as an underclassmen I would have the weight to do it.

i agree with your dad....you are a starter so the coach expects you to be a leader. when he criticizes you he is helping to make you better. at every level you play there is always going to be someone pushing you to be better, stronger, more talented. I would just take what he says and use it...what doesn't kill you will only make you stronger!!! haha corny much? lol but seriously don't let it get to you that much....he wants what is best for you but is gonna make you work for it =]

The mature thing is to do is say. Hey coach, can we sit down before our next practice I want to ask you why your always putting me down.
Is there something you would like me to focus on.
If you feel its stronger than picking on. Then I would go see your school guidance councilor & explain to them this coach has some issues with me personally. Let the school department deal with it.

He is probably just trying to get you to be perfect, or better. It does get quite annoying I know. I played some in highschool and was mostly a 3pt. shooter and my coach got on my case about pretty much everything else haha. Good luck.

Unless your getting the vibe that he really dislikes you, I'd say he actually problably cares about you so he wants to see you learn what you need to in order to be the best player you can be. He sees youir potential and wants to bring out the best in you. Try to listen to his criticisms and follow his direction. If he sees you're trying, he may ease up a bit.
