Hi,

Recall a function is undefined where the denominator is equal to zero. This is so because a value x divided by zero can not be determined.

Therefore we say:

3x + 9 = 0

Subtract 9 from both sides:

3x = -9

Divide by 3 on both sides to get:

x = -9 / 3 <==== FINAL ANSWER

I hope that helps you out! Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Sincerely,

Andrew
