I am wondering wether children would grow up to be better people growing up in Greece or in an anglosaxon environment that could be more disceplined>?

I cannot compare Greek kids and Australian - I have a lot to do with Greek kids ... I was a teacher, then a mother and now a children's clothes shop owner so I have a lot of experience in this department.
I can't even compare to UK kids as I left at 21.
The negative (that I see) is that kids are not brought up to stand on their own two feet here - they are completely mollycoddled until a grand age! They are also given too much say in adult things - and are really rude to elders and generally spoilt....this is probably same world over nowadays.
I really believe the Greek children would benefit by being brought up to be more independant as UK/Au/US (etc) are.

The positive is they do not grow up too quickly as in other countries nor are they likely to get involved in fighting / drinking and 'flirting' from a too young age. (although drugs are a big problem in Preveza)

Although the past generations were likely to take care of their elders (attitude changes with age!) I see this is changing now.

I am bringing my children up here - they are Greeks - as I am stricter than the average Greek mother - my kids are polite and well behaved ...... so far! We are yet to hit the teen years so I don't know what I have in store!

Kids are kids - it's parents/teachers/society that makes them the way they are.

I don't know much about Australia, but I lived in Canada for a long time, and in Greece for most of my life. I noticed that good kids are good kids no matter what. And it depends mostly on the family and the way they grew up.
I personally want my daughter to grow up in Greece for the experiences. Other than that I'm hoping she'll be a good kid because of me, and my husband.

Greek kids are fine. I examine 500-700 of them each year ages 13- University. They are bright, polite, curious and well behaved. I cannot compare them to Australians as I have visited there only for six weeks. But I prefer the Greek environment to the Anglo-Saxon in general terms for a number of reasons, family being just one of them.

Since Greece has joined the EU, it is against the law to spank a child. So Idk.
