It sounds like your geckos may have died from intestinal impaction--common in lizards kept on sand. Do not use loose substrate for geckos!! Use paper towel, non adhesive shelf liner or reptile carpet. They need an under tank heater on one end of the tank. They need 3 hides, a cool hide, a warm hide, and a warm moist hide. Cricket size is very important--they should be no bigger than the space between the crickets eyes. If in doubt, feed smaller. Too large can cause impactions. Dust all crickets with calcium powder several times a week, and a multivitamin once a week. Keep fresh water available at all times. Be sure to feed the crickets a good gutloading formula and provide them a shallow bowl of water. If the crickets are not fed well, they provide little nutrition. sounds like you didn't have the slightest clue how to care for them.

They probably died from being kept in an innapropriate habitat. You need to do a lot of research into care for a specific species so you don't end up just killing more geckos. There is not a type of gecko called a "striped gecko" so I can only imagine what type of lizard you actually had.

Most geckos you feed every other day, spot clean the cage as needed. What you use on the floor depends entirely upon what species it is. Sand generally causes impaction, but if you have a rainforest gecko, keeping them dry on sand is a sure death sentence. Iddeally, you never handle a gecko, the only exception being a well-established fat tail, leopard or crestie.

Their bellies turn black when they die.

EDIT: Leo's dont need UVB lighting, so they didn't die of lack of light

Based on the shakes, I would say they died from a severe calcium deficiency. I would not recommend getting more if you could not take care of the previous two. These are animals that suffer, not toys! When you say you kept their tank warm, did you have UV light -- they will die without it. And a heat lamp. Clearly something was wrong with their cage. The fact that they had shakes says to me that you never dusted their crickets with calcium, or did not provide the UVA/UVB lighting for them to digest calcium. that is very serious, so I would not recommend you getting another animal until you know how to prevent causing severe calcium problems. And make sure you selecst healthy ones that don't already have calcium issues. Good luck!

Try going to the library and getting a few books, or searching on the internet for information on them. I don't know anything really about geckos personally, but research is the best bet. Doesn't sound like you did anything blatantly wrong, but I'm no expert. This site seems to have some good info http://www.leopardgecko.com/emcare.html

wow man, tough luck.
It is possible that the crickets you were feeding them were too big.
Another possibility is that you bought two very old geckos and they were going to die anyway.
Go out and buy some more, then see what happens. If they die to, start thinking about what you might be doing. If not, use a different pet store.

Eh, personally if you don't know how to take care of them and if it was your first time, you shouldn't of gotten two of them. You should really see someone that works at a Pet Shop and specializes in that, or check various websites dedicated to the care of them. And DO NOT get more until you are completely one hundred and ten percent ready to care for them.

If you really like geckos set them free.
