I rented a room and paid security deposit in a house. Now I want to move but the women not have enough money to pay my deposit back.

I think my only option is small claims court. What will happen if she not show up and I win. But, how I get money. Do I file a judgement?
What if she not pay the judgement?
The deposit is 500 dollars

very common to have in private deals. Even if you do go to court the landlord will dispute anything and everything in damages and cleaning.

even if you do get a court judgment, collecting it is another matter and a lawyer is strongly suggested in any attempts to collect. if you do not follow very specific rules you could wind up in more issues than just being out a deposit.

why landlords do not put deposits in an escrow account is something i never understand but there is no law or rule on it.

take the advice of the previous, take what you can get and hope that you get the rest in time.

spending more money in lawyers and court costs plus your time off from work to try to collect it is never a wise financial move.

Would they be able to pay you part of what they owe you, and then make regular payments on the rest.

Small claims court is about your best other option. But winning your case there will only get you a piece of paper that says they owe you, not get your money.

Good luck.
