ok i am doing ok in my college classes, a little above a 3.0 average for each class. i'm a freshman. uhh i bought books for my classes, but they're Ebooks. the problem is i guess they've expired because they refuse to open. every time i try only the glossary opens. if i try to open a chapter a box pops up then it freezes. basically i can't get into my ebook because of a problem with my computer
my mom said this weekend she can get someone to pick me up. we don't have a car that'll make it ALL the way to where i am. we stay in a small town with no airport. the greyhound is not running where i stay.
so basically i can skip 2 of my finals and go home this saturday. i can go home for free on saturday without my mom or me paying anything because her friend is coming down here on saturday. i don't think i'm going to pass my finals because my ebooks won't open, and i can't buy my last 2 chapters because of my pay schedule. i changed my degree, and the classes i'm taking aren't needed???

i think if i took the test it'd be a waste of time and money. they only count about 16-20% of my grade.
if i left, i feel it'd be the smart move, but i would feel guilty

the teachers base their test off of the book. and my book won't open, it is an eBook.

I'm not going to ask why you didn't start reading your books until now, but I have an alternative to skipping your finals. Find a friend or friends in these classes, preferably someone with REAL books, and see if you can study with them. I don't mean this in the ordinary sense of going over the material together, although that could work too. What I mean is while that person is studying math (for example) you could read his/her history book (or whatever class it is you lack the book for).

No one is probably going to lend you their book(s) this close to finals, but if you work together and that person can get his/her book back from you right when he/she needs it, it might work. You may have to provide a little incentive, like buying or making study treats, or buying the coffee while the two of you study at a coffee house.

16-20% of your grade is a lot to blow off, even if your other work for those classes is excellent. You may not need those classes for your major, but I've been out in the world long enough to know that there's no such thing as learning too much. There's a whole lot of life to live after college and what may seem unnecessary to know now you may wish you knew later.

20% of a grade is a lot! If you're at 100% now then taking a 20% hit will drop you to a C (2.0) -- if you're wrong and you're at a 90 or below then taking a 20% hit will drop you well below a 2.0 and probably result in academic probation/suspension.

Since you say "I'm doing OK..." and not "I'm getting As..." then your idea will absolutely result in a semester GPA around 1.0 and possibly lower.

You would be much better off taking the exam and getting a 50% (-10% final grade) than walking away and taking a 0% (-20% final).

Some professors will fail you for no reason other than missing their exam.

If you've sat in class for a semester and can't get a 50 on the final exams without cramming - well.....

I agree; it seems like a foolish, rash decision to leave without taking your finals. Isn't there someone from whom you can borrow or share books or e-books? What about studying from your class notes? Or seeing if the teachers can loan you books just for the next week or two?

You paid for the classes so take your final. It reflects poorly upon you not to take them. Don't you have notes and stuff you can study from?
