It just seems that they wouldn't want to look for someone because it would mean more work. However, they would also be the best people to ask because they would receive applications.

A lot of places don't allow sub-letting. Check your lease and ask your landlord.

It's your responsibility to find someone to take over the lease, not the landlords. It's extra work they don't need to do, because they have a contract signed by you and are protected regardless.

The normal practice is YOU find a sub-lessor yourself. The landlord will then approve or disapprove them.

The LL has no motivation to find a sub-lessor for you. He has your contract and that's all he needs from you.
