Matching pair ram chips?

I have 1gb of ram right now with 2 open slots for upgrade. On crucial.com it says I have to install them in pairs but they didnt say if I could keep my pair and install another pair. Will this work?

it should work ok as long as they are the same speed . put the largest set as the primary

Yes, it will work fine. Larger chips first and if dual channel, keep the pairs matching side by side.
