When it comes to alcoholic drinks I will not drink ourside of my home. So office or work party drinking are out of the question. I have seen some that will limit themselves to 2 drinks before calling it quits.
Come to think of it. I don't drink outside of my home. Not even when going out for dinner. OK, OK. maybe one drink out during dinner for New Years Eve. LOL. One can't be a party pooper year round. LOL.

Wirewick, I would not drink any alcholic drinks at the Christmas office party. I've seen too many times when people have had a drink or 2+ and the next day at work people are busy gossiping about who drank what and who did what. Go there and have a good time, then come home and have a nice cocktail there. Have fun at your office party!

As someone who has had some really bad experiences mixing alcohol with work functions, or mixing it with life in general, I'd say take it easy at your office party. You have to see those people again and again. But... make sure You do bring a camera, because I'm sure there will be some people having crazy fun and drinking themselves into your new office blackmail scheme, which you should really consider.

I think a lot depends on how much one is used to drinking. A person who hasn't taken a drink all year and is slight in stature can get drunk on one beer. I wouldn't take the chance. Christmas office parties can give the office enough gossip for most of the following year. Have fun. Take notes. Drink at home!

the last thing anyone wants to do is get drunk and make a fool of yourself at a place you work and where your bosses might be. I am not a tea totaler, but because of the diabetes I am not suppose to drink and I do not like the feeling I get with alcohol.I have seen too many people get falling down drunk and start hitting on the people at the party, and the next day really regret it when one of those hit upon was the bosses husband or wife, stick to 1 drink and you'll do fine.

Nah, not a good idea. Never loose face with people you work with, or better to keep the face you let them see. In this day and age an "image" is something that can be invaluable. Chances are you have worked very hard to get where you are, don't take chances over a drink! Mind what Tin Man says!

Only drink with people you trust, trust no one!

I wouldn't drink any liquor. Many companies have banned alcohol at Christmas parties due to the risk of fatal driving accidents that have occurred after those parties. I also wouldn't want to make a fool out of myself with people I have to spend so much time with

Have enough to enjoy, but not too many that you may end up in the closet, with someone you have to face, for the next 365 days of the year.!! You know what office parties are like. And get a cab home.

Remember Towering Inferno!!LOL. Hope you got that.
Drink your normal drink you like, with water in between each drink. Eat before. Enjoy it. :)

I would say stick to less than 3 alcoholic beverages....unless you will be tanked off of one. As to what you should drink....there is no etiquette, but I like white wine spritzers at formal parties. They are pretty and I can drink them without getting drunk. You never want to be "that person" who was the drunk of the office holiday party, dancing on the bar and flirting with the CEO.

I hardly ever, ever drink but on those rare occasions that I do I try to do it when I am going to be home. But if your can hold your liquor then i would say never more then two and only if you have a designated driver.

I see people get giggly and i know they are buzzing like bees that hit the high honey liquor bottle of the queen bee.
