My husband and a I are interested in opening an ebay business. Before we can do so, we need to update our equipment. We are buying a new laptop-however, when it comes to upgrading to a faster internet connection, I have no clue what is what or what I need. Also, I am looking for some kind of package in which maybe I can get satellite or cable TV along with it-but again- HD, cable, satellite, DVR---You might as well be speaking japanese to me. I just want something super affordable that will get the job done and preferrably in an affordable package and something easy to install. Anyone out there speak Japanese? I would appreciate a useful translation!! :) Thanks
Heather

OK....

A cable modem is faster that DSL. So if you have access to cable check to see if they have cable Internet services. That would the fastest. Many cable Internet providers also offer digital phone services as well.

If that isn't available then DSL is second choice. AT&T offers a reason basic package for DSL, phone service, basic satelite and internet via DSL.

For cable you will need a cable box, many will supply you with one for a one year contract.

AT&T usually have a rebate on the DSL box. For a one year commitment.

Both satelite and cable should offer HD and DVR.

We have cable digital, with internet.... and pay about $120.00

If I went to either cable fully (include phone service) or At&T I could save about $50 over what I pay for both now. However you need to take into consideration that if there are atmospheric disturbances, snow, sun spots high winds hard rain, you will loose reception with a satalite. Until those are resolved.

Broadband refers to the two cable and DSL. wireless refers to a instantaneous broadband connection. in my opinion, i think of cable is the quickest. I even have used DSL in the previous and the acquire time for cable is a lot swifter. The college the place I artwork has wireless in most of the homes and it could flow slowly looking on your connection velocity.

I don't know who your phone carriers are in your area but the AT&T here is great.
