Interesting question...Some say he took three trips over several years, others claim he took a fourth trip in secret...but in reality, he didn't. He REdiscovered the New World, perhaps, but it was the Vikings who actually discovered the New World and used the coast off what is now New England and Newfoundland as a fishing ground, centuries before Columbus was born.
