Well, this all started during his promo last night, when Russo came out and told him to wrap up his promo, he said "Go head, fire me. I don't care."
Weather this was shoot or not is debateable, but then I started to wonder if he really needs TNA anyway?
He has the size to make it in WWE, he proved himself last month in NOAH, and ROH would gladly take him back.
Does Samoa Joe need TNA?
p.s. because people will probably ask, here's the promo:

I love all these WWE marks bashing Joe for being out of shape, whereas their heroes are talentless muscle men who couldn't wrestle their way out of a paper back, and will die from steroid abuse long before Joe will from being fat.
Does Joe need TNA? Yes and no. Does TNA need Joe? Yes and no as well. Joe needs TNA in the sense that it's the only place he's ever going to get television time where he's taken seriously as a main event competitor, instead of some samoan savage midcarder, which is what WWE would do to him if they got their hands on him. Could he pull an Aries and take his ball and go home? Sure, but what good would that do? It's one step back, and ROH isn't in the same shape Joe left it in. TNA needs Joe in the sense that he's the only credible guy that's homegrown that they could push right now to world title status within the next 3 months and have him be a credible contender capable of winning the World. I say this even moreso after the shoot. I'm sure it was a shoot, he sounded genuine in what he was saying, and I couldn't see anyone slapping that promo together last minute, and I'm sure they gave Hall until the last minute to show up. I also don't think TNA would alienate what they consider to be a "big name" in Scott Hall, and wouldn't alienate Nash, whose still on the roster, but if Joe left TNA today, it might do a substancial amount of dent to the ratings, but a majority of people I know tune in to see guys they haven't seen since WCW, and let's face it, unless you were there from day one to see Joe's rise in TNA, you have no real emotional investment in Joe, even moreso if you're a new fan who hasn't seen the Angle/Joe series of matches, which were clinic.
I think WWE would pick up Joe if he complied with going. He's what they need; a healthy bloodstream and a clean urine test with talent.

Probably a bit of both.Samoa was in the WWE developmental fed UPW but never made it onto the main roster back in 1999.
Samoa has never had a problem with Dixie Carter or Jeff Jarrett.Until last night's ppv where he drew the short straw & was sent out to cut a promo that was aimed to draw heat away from Hall's no-show.Ppl figured a popular face like Samoa would be the guy to explain his no-show & still make TNA & the ppv look good.
Samoa wasn;t happy at being made scapegoat which is why he went into business for himself. He cut a promo by shooting ~ for real i think~ on Hall & Nash.He sure didn;t look happy either & there was a scuffle backstage afterwards.
Joe knows he's on the top level at TNA which is why he dared Dixie who was in the audience to fire him.He know he's needed as a big -draw on TNA as one of the top stars like Christian, kurt or himself.
He won't go to WWE as he knows the sitch & wouldn;t want to end up another Lashley or Cor Von or whatever. For sure Samoa will get told off for his shoot, but he;'s strengthened his position in TNA.And that can only be a good thing for him.

I watched the shoot...and I say, "AMEN!"
I understand what TNA is trying to do as far as getting wrestling fans to tune in by bringing in the likes of Angle, Cage, Sting, Booker T, and the Outsiders. They want to get them tuned in.
At the same time, wrestlers like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Petey Williams, Abyss, and LAX are the core of TNA. Many of them need to be pushed. Eventually they need to be the ones to take over the company once the older talent heads out. It reminds me a lot of WCW in their dying days when they were pushing the big names in spite of them being past their prime, and when they were gone they hadn't adequately pushed the younger talent.
Plus, Scott Hall has no-showed TNA shows in the past...Dixie Carter, Jeff Jarrett, and Vince Russo took a huge risk rolling the dice on this move. And apparently Samoa Joe got the short straw by having to take the mic and explain what happened.
Joe is one of the top talent TNA has...there's no reason this man shouldn't be their World champion right now. He's got it better here though than he does in the WWE. He probably would have done the Umaga gimmick or something similar.

no he doesn't. the guy is a great wrestler and is already awesome on the mic. he could do wonders for WWE but i wouldn't like it that much if they gave him a bad gimmick and not push him like they did with Marcus Cor Von. on the other hand he would do good on ECW though considering we'd have some fresh match ups between Punk and Joe. ROH would be also good for Joe as he like i said is a great wrestler and on ROH there more action then talk.
