How old are you 5 or 6 they have a nuclear weapon so I should get one too,get real it is too late to stop the countries that all ready have them but it critical to everyone on this planet that whacked out dictators, and third world leaders do not obtain nukes,I wonder if all the little bleeding heart, the whole world should be fair and equal,I live in a fairy tale world people would feel the same if one of these American hating countries helped a group of homicidal bombers get a nuke inside America and they used it in some of these peoples neighborhoods,I bet they would have to wake up and take a realist look at the world and stop letting others think for them.

In the long run, no. They could just strangle the state with economic sanctions and using nuclear weapons against tat would only further isolate the state and just ask for some black ops missile strike that takes out all silos, etc.
But if the state was economically sound and sanctions by these states were nothing to fear, I’d say yes. It would stop any military incursion.
Just look at the facts. U.S. went into Iraq because Saddam kept stating they had no nuclear weapons. Nothing to fear from Iraq. North Korea kept proclaiming they had nuclear weapons and they were untouchable.

Sure I would. But I am an American and I want my country and my government to do anything they can to prevent nukes from spreading.
Really, do you really think all these countries who want nukes want them for protection? No. They want to kill their enemies, real or perceived. Do you not realize if Iran has a nuke, Israel is vulnerable. And if Israel is hit, they will hit back. And off we go.
Your "equality of WMD" analogy means World War III.

I sure would! Just observing the deference with which Bush treats countries like North Korea and Pakistan would make me want nukes. I'd never be able to use them, but just -having- them (or letting the rest of the world think I had them) would protect me from western imperialism.

My country would be a democracy so I wouldn't need nukes, I'd let America defend me. And in return, I'd give them oil at a discount.
