Even if what you are saying is true, the question isn't, If the Yankees will ask Torre back? the question is, Will Torre accept if the Yankees ask him back? To that question, the answer is no. No matter how much money the Yankees offer him. Torre feels the Yankees slighted him, and it will be years, if it ever happens, before he forgives them. No different than the way Yogi Berra felt when the Yankees fired him, that it took 20 years before he ever stepped foot in Yankee Stadium.

I don't think they'd swallow their pride despite the scenario you listed. Torre is a good manager but there are others who they Yankees could covet without having to go back to Torre. Scioscia, Wedge, Larussa, Francona or Leyland would be higher on their list than Torre.
