depression
loneliness
no one listens to them
people being mean
I found that school was the worse place to get along with people. the people were like vultures. crazy. after school, it gets better. people just have to grow up and quit harrassing other people.
good luck.

I just did a quick research on this subject for another question. I say quick, since to do thorough research would take some major time. There are conflicting numbers, and the probability that many aren't properly counted. Never the less, statistics still prove a much higher percentage of both attempted, and completed suicides among gay youth. I believe the main cause is abuse, both physical, and psychological. Here are a few sites to check. This is my main reason for believing that GLBT youth should be welcome here.

When they are going through a certain age, they tend to 'lock' themselves up and start having this thing called 'privacy'. They'll find it harder to relate their problems to an adult or friend and tend to keep it all by themselves. These causes them to be more easily irritated and annoyed.
As more problem arose, the stress level rises up. Peer influence, family disputes, school studies.. all add up to their problems. They start thinking that no one really understand them and no one will be there for them. All sorts of thinking may comes in. As their stress endurance couldn't take the strain, they may just feel like leaving this place full of conflicts and attempt suicide.
I read it from a certain article a long time ago. Hope it helps.

There are many things that can happen.
1.) Depression- Teenager feels like they would rather die then feel what they're feeling now.
2.) illness- there are things called mental illnesses that can make you feel suicidal when your life is perfectly fine.
3.) Trauma- Sometimes, when a horrible event happens so fast and at once that you feel there is no hope and just end your life.

I don't know why most kids do it, but I do know that suicide was a battle that I fought before. I think that suicide is one of the most selfish things that a person can do because it hurts family members tremendously. The reason I wanted to die wasn't because I was feeling sorry for myself, but because I wanted to make my family suffer. I then realized that if I killed myself it would be useless because my family wouldn't even care and they would try to get sympathy from others.

I agree with Panic. It's depression, the stress of school, pressure of peers constantly judging you, some kids don't feel like their parents care about them, I think you get where I'm going with this. Which is why we all need to spread the love!!! <3

Drugs, depression, booze, pregnancy, fear, hatred, and so on and so forth. In hindsight it would be simpler to make a list of things that don't make teens suicidal and self harming.

It depends on the person, just because you're a teen doesn't mean we all go through the same things.
