A few minutes ago $ ANT $, a TC here in this section, came over to Rock & Pop and asked us if we would ever consider listening to a Rap song, which I thought was awesome:

So I thought I would ask the same question of all of you over here. Would you ever considering listening to Rock? And for those who do now, who are some of your favorites?

Thanks for your answers! :)

aimjeezy - you guys started it, and I think it's great! :)

Here's the song you're referring to, by Journey. It's not great, but it's something...

If I could only listen to one type of music for the rest of my life, it would be hip hop. But, I love all sorts of music. If it sounds good, I'll listen. When I first got into hip hop, my dad would sit down and listen with me then tell me who the samples were from, so I ended up listening to a lot of funk, soul, blues etc as a result of that.
As far as rock goes, I love Led Zepplin, Nirvana, Jimi Hendrix, Patti Smith and PJ Harvey. There are a lot more that I just can't think of right now.
I think it's great when rock and rap combine and create something new. Run DMC and Public Enemy have never been scared to take chances with that.
The only music I refuse to listen to is manufactured pop - anything else, I'll gadly give it a go!

I spend all of my time in this section, and i must say that right now I'm listening to some radiohead, aka my favorite band of all time..anyway, I listen to a good amount of rock, but that's nothing to the amount hip hop I consume..

rap is my favorite kind of music. But I like journey, whitesnake, foreigner, asia, styx, .
I listen to just about every type of music except country. I don't see how people wouldn't be open to listen to anything other than rap.
MAny many rap songs take samples from rock

I listen to Rock ALL the time... I think I listen to it just as much as I listen to Rap/Hop-Hop.

I LOVE Radiohead, The White Stripes (I just started getting into them), Flaming Lips, Led Zeppelin, and Coldplay.

Just to name a few. : )

i listen to rock all the time. Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Rush, Wolfmother...

i think people need to be more open to different music and not just listen to one type without attempting to listen to other genres
