i have a big cardboard box, what do you think i should make out of it?

i want it to be something cool but i want to be able to keep it for a while also.

A fire engine. (Whenever I think of a cardboard box an old cartoon from Mad magazine many years ago comes back to me. )
A little boy opens a box from Santa and inside sees a child-size red fire engine. "Oh, boy, Oh, boy," the little boy exclaims excitedly. "Take it out of the box; I want to play!"
In the next frame, the fire engine sits beside the box while the little boy is sitting in the box, pulling on an imaginary bell and yelling "clang, clang, clang!"
. . . the moral of the cartoon being that it doesn't take fancy toys to entertain a child.
But I digress. Make anything you want out of the box.

How big? Dishwasher size or refrigerator size?

You could make a little fort out of it. Cut some windows in it and hide underneath the thing.

You could poke holes in it for your head and arms and put it around your torso, like a robot.

I cut up nice boxes and use for back and front covers for books I make. I also use some for homemade scrapbook pages. Punch some holes on the side and decoupage papers on them.
Make a person cut out, prop it in your car, so if you drive alone, you have someone to talk to. ha ha

You can use a knife or a sharp object to carve out a play house for your kids, making windows and doors and using tempers paint to color a garden on the outside. If you don't have kids you can give it to a nephew , niece or a close relative of yours. You would be amazed to see how a kid would make use of it.
