They are hard to deal with because when drunk their brains are out to lunch. You can't reason with a drunk person. They are just reacting based on their emotions. They often don't make any sense, and they may accuse you of things that never happened. They become angry, depressed, or overemotional too easily. They promise things then later have no memory of it.
As you say, it may be time to make new friends. Or help this one get some professional help if she is at all interested in quitting. If not, probably the best thing you can do is stay away from her. Often alcoholics have to get into serious trouble and suffer the consequences before they are ready to seek treatment.

Yeah, I know what you mean, I work with a guy like that who comes in drunk and he talks over you, won't listen to you and then he thinks he is right!! But, I am not looking for another job, I just hope he retires soon, LOL.

my friends are funny as hell when they are drunk, they seriously put to shame any modern comedians....so yes, you need to find new friends

replace her drinks w/ juice, she probably wont even notice
if that doesn't work, tell her her mom died, and if her mind gets back, then u can talk to her
