I went there just once. Don't u think it's odd that when one lives in a country he doesn't care for going to all the historical places and monuments while others fly from all over the world to see it. I really hope to go again though, but my husband isn't helping lol. typical Egyptian ba2a :)

I have been to the pyramids at the Giza complex so many times that I have truly lost count.I have been lucky enough to have been through all the pyramids and into most of the passages, chambers and tunnels even up into the spaces between the immense blocks of masonry that are above the Kings Chamber in The Great Pyramid, to view the graffiti left by the actual workmen.
But it doesn't matter how many times I go there, I will never tire of seeing and learning more about these incredible structures that defy all attempts of photography or film to capture their sheer immensity and allure.
I have found that most ordinary Egyptians have only made visits to the pyramids either with school trips or as a once of visit to show them to visiting relatives or overseas friends.
My husband hasn't been to Hatshepsut's Temple or The Valley of the Kings since he was a kid and used to go "exploring" there, yet we live only about 5k from them both!.
It is a similar thing with Australia's heritage sights .
I have never been to see Ulahru, Ayers Rock to the Kakadoo Rain Forest or Great Barrier Reef in Australia and really have not a lot of interest in doing so, but tourists come from all over the world just to see these wonders of nature and man.
But I have seen more of Egypt's historical sights than most Egyptians, simply because it is my passion and my career.
I think it is because they are something we grow up with just knowing these things are there and the old story of "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence".

I've heard the universe described as Flat, Spherical, Hyperbolic, or even as a Dodecahedron. Never a Pyramid.

You have touched my sore spot ya ruby! It drives me nuts because some people actually have no idea how valuable our history is and take it for granted ... the comments about infidels and asnam and tearing them down in particular really piss me off! Anyway, I have been there around 3 or 4 times I think, can't remember but I do intend to go again soon ISA to show Farah an important part of her country's history. We passed the pyramids lots of times coming and going near them and she's always excited to see them, so a visit up close is needed now. I also intend to take her on a tour of the museums soon ISA though her dad thinks she's still too young, but I think you can never start too early. Tell your hubby ya 3adow ilkotob wilthaqafa om farah bit2ol lak you'd better change your attitude or else! loooooooool

I been to Egypt 2 times so far, about to be a 3rd time... but only 1 time to the Pyramids. It was HOT and I got a lil sun burnt. I have the best pictures of my husband and I on camels and holding hands and the pyramids are behind us! Too sweet!

(it is part of the University of Chicago)...not too many people know about it, but it has always been one of my favorites because it specializes in ancient Mesopotamian, Eyptian, Sumerian, and Persian art and artifacts.
I would LOVE to see the pyramids and the Egyptian Museum in person...(I have a bunch of books by Dr. Zahi Hawass and watch him on the History channel all the time)
Btw...here is a link to the museum I was talking about.

Never, but I have always been fascinated with them. I grew up in Chicago and we have a museum there called the Oriental Institute (it is part of the University of Chicago)...not too many people know about it, but it has always been one of my favorites because it specializes in ancient Mesopotamian, Eyptian, Sumerian, and Persian art and artifacts.

Only once so far, but I've actually been in Egypt only once by now. Of course, I plan to come to Egypt again (and again...) and I'll certainly go to the pyramids again some time.
