a ball moving at 5m/s strikes a stationary ball of the same mass
the first ball moves at an angle of 30 degrees relative to th origional line of motion
the second ball moves at an angle of 90 degrees with respect to the final path of the first ball
find the velocity (magnitude and direction) of the second ball after contact
is this elastic or inelastic
explain and show work plz

Looking in the horizontal first
using m as the mass of each ball, and the 30 degrees is positive
m*5=m*v*cos(30)
solve for v
v=5.7735 m/s

looking in the vertical, assuming the 90 degree path is negative
5.7735*m*sin(30)-m*v=0
solve for v
v=2.89 m/s in the negative 90 degree w/r/t the original line of motion.
