The article on this website contains some of the latest research on how to tell if someone is lying, by paying attention to language and facial cues:
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2002/09/16/MN241376.DTL&type=science
This website is kind of long-winded, and you'll have to scan alot of useless info, to get the tips you want; however, it IS an entire website about lying & how to detect it:
http://face-and-emotion.com/dataface/facets/deception.jsp
Here's a simple to use site; however, the tips given probably do not reflect the latest research. No source is given, but my guess is that they're drawing heavily on CIA techniques that have (in part) been recently discredited by cutting edge technologies & research:
http://www.learnbodylanguage.org/body_language_lying.html
Who are these people/person lying to you? You should have supportive people around you, so you don't have to worry! You deserve better!
--good luck!

Watch their eyes. Don't judge them too quickly though. There are all sorts of different tells and some people may have difficulty keeping eyecontact despite telling the truth. Engage them in a conversation several times before making a judgement about when they are lying.

There is no way to tell. People can look you straight in the eye and be lying. Believe me I know. You can't tell, unless you know the person. You just have to give every one the benefit of the doubt on the first go. You live and learn.

Do threy look you in the eye and not look away ? If you know of a nervous habit then watch for it. It usually comes out when they're lying. If it sounds too good to be true , it probably isn't.Do they have a history of lying to you?

If they stare into your eyes without blinking, or if they cant look at you whilst they answer. If they are unable to make physical contact with you when you try to touch them and they stutter and stammer a lot. Or if they are contstantly coming up with excuses you didn't ask for

Usually the serious tone of voice, a deep look in their eye (with eye CONTACT), and if their body language just kind of shows that they have nothing to hide.

By the way they are acting, normally. It's not what a person says it what they do!
If someone says they're going to do something and don't keep to their work I would say there's a chance they're dishonest or vice versa
