Because they are afraid of offending the non-Christians. That was a very stupid reason to be sent to the principle's office. They want to put the Christian religion on the back burner and all the other religions up front. They are even leaving God out on the doorstep of schools, business and everything now. I don't care what others think about me or what they do to me. I am still going to say Merry Christmas to people. If they don't like it then, Oh Well!!! LET'S PUT CHRIST BACK INTO CHRISTMAS THIS YEAR!!! This country was founded on Christianity and people are forgetting this. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! See? I'm not afraid to say it.

It's because political correctness has made people become mentally retarded....I assume that other religious minorities get offended when Christians celebrate a holiday and actually enjoy it... And you are right, it has nothing to do with multiculturalism. I live in one of the most multicultural cities in the world, barely anybody is christian or white, and white christians are actually the minority in most parts of my city, but for some reason, we have common sense, and we stick to our traditions, so wherever I go in my city people still say Merry Christmas no matter what ethnicity they are or religion... and there are X-mas signs in stores everywhere. If you visit our airport, theres a large sign that says Merry Christmas! We're pretty proud of our heritage and traditions, and we plan on carrying that on.

Sorry, but I don't believe you were sent to the principal's office just for saying Merry Christmas. If it's true, your parents should complain to the school district. I've never met one person who was actually offended by the words "Merry Christmas."
And why were you saying "Merry Christmas" today, anyway? Christmas is still three weeks away!

I totally agree with you, There are a lot of things, people are taking away from us. Merry Christmas has been around how long? Same with prayer. It seems like Atheist run this country instead of Americans fighting for their freedom of speech, of choice, plus others. It's sad that the young people understand how wrong it is, but Adults cower down, due to lack of interest? I have heard so many times, as long as it doesn't bother me, why should I care! Well when is the time to care?

y r people offended by happy holidays. this is NOT a Christian country. in this country people have the right to celebrate whatever religion they want. that is y MANY people came to this country in the first place. so they could practice their religion without be prosecuted for it. last time i checked there were muslims in this country. as well as Jewish people. and people who celebrate Kwanza. u cant force a person to be a Christian. and u need to respect other religions. that is what is so great about this country. people have more rights than they do in other countries. and freedom to practice the religion of their choosing is one of them

haha i know!
we have to call it "winter break" because Christmas affends people of other religions.
the United States is a diverse, religiously free nation, and people of different traditions and cultures come here seeking better lives.
i think it's sad how mentioning such a happy holiday offends some people, but at the same time i understand.
to each their own, i guess. (:

Because you need to understand that not everyone practices the same religion that you do, and that one of the rights people have is freedom of religion. If you are a true Christian, you will respect other people's rights to practice the religion they believe is right for them. Religious tolerance and acceptance that not everyone agrees with everything you think is important.

The problem is that so many non-Christians are whiny little crybabies who just shrivel up and die at the words "merry Christmas". They have no backbones and no ethics, so they whine and pule until they impose their sissy demands upon everyone else.
The manly solution, as opposed to the panty-waist non-solution is for everybody to use what he wants. Me, I say "Merry Christmas!" Someone else can say "Happy Hanukkah", someone else can say "Up Your Festivus" (or whatever), "Kwazy Kwanzaa", or whatever else floats your boat. Banishing "Merry Christmas" is the act of a miserable, pathetic band of cowards.
