Sure, guy with 41 major league at-bats, albeit looks (I only said looks) like he's a future star or proven best pitcher in the MLB? Take your pick. Throw in the fact it's harder to get an ace than a great center fielder and its even more lopsided. You can't guarantee success on Jacoby's part, but its almost for Johan.

Yes.
Obviously Santana's worth a lot, being a 2-time Cy Young winner with loads of talent too. If it was any other rookie, I would say it wouldn't be worth it, but it's Jacoby Ellsbury.
Jacoby Ellsbury is an amazing player, and we all know it, even though we've only seen him play just a little. If he continues at the pace he's going, he's going to be one of the finest players in this era. BUT of course, there's no gurantee he's gonna turn out amazing.
I do think it's worth it, although I don't want Jacoby to leave the Red Sox :(

Well the Sox have said they will give up either Ellsbury or Lester (not both) to get Santana...and while I would rather give up Lester I think the Sox should do it...you don't really know if Ellsbury is going to turn into the next great thing...although he has shown that he may be a great player in the majors...he could turn out to be a career .200 hitter...the return you get in Santana would set up the best rotation in the majors...so as long as the Sox don't have to give up the entire farm and they can get Santana to sign to a long term deal I say they should pull the trigger...it may get some backlash in Boston with the fans but once they see Santana out there I think people will quickly forget about Ellsbury...I mean...the Sox gave up Hanley Ramirez for Josh Beckett and that trade turned out pretty well for the Sox.

Depends on how you describe, "worth it"? Sure, Santana is an excellent pitcher, but hey I thought our pitching crew were outstanding this past year. I mean come on, we did make it to and win the World Series. But when looking at the playoffs, and the World Series, it wasn't just won because of our pitchers. Thats where we really need to consider the trade with Ellsbury. He contributed some very key plays during the World Series, and this from a player who just this year will be considered a rookie. I think in the long run, we don't need Santana and his pitching skills, its a dog to our current crew.

One-on-one? No.
Pitchers are the highest commodity and the only reasonable one-on-one trade would be with a high talent, low cost pitcher in return.
That's why the Twins see the centerpiece of the Yankees deal as Hughes with Melky as a nice afterthought.
I don't see the Sox getting in done without Lester and Jacoby. The Twins want both and aren't too keen on Crisp. (who would be?)

I think its worth it for both teams as the Twins need a center fielder replacing Torii Hunter. The Twins also will be getting at least one pitcher probably two in the deal.
And the Red Sox need one more pitcher to complete there rotation. So its worth it for both teams

No I don't think it's worth it for the Twins. They should get Ellsbury and Lester plus that "hot young SS" the Red Sox have in triple A. As of right now Hughes and Cabrera plus another prospect sounds like a way better offer.

Heck YES!-> Bosox will be locked in for the post season next year. Look what you gave up for Beckett and see what you got in return.Ellsbury is good, but if you can lock in the best pitching staff in baseball, why not?
