Simplifying
8x + 2y = 10
Solving
8x + 2y = 10
Move all terms containing y to the left, all other terms to the right.
Add '-8x' to each side of the equation.
8x + -8x + 2y = 10 + -8x
Combine like terms: 8x + -8x = 0
0 + 2y = 10 + -8x
2y = 10 + -8x
Divide each side by '2'.
y = 5 + -4x
Simplifying
y = 5 + -4x

You isolate y by 2y = -8x +10
2y divided by 2 = -8x divided by 2 & 10 divided by 2. y= -4x + 5

1. isolate the y by subtracting everything else on the side
8x - 8x +2y = 10 - 8x
2y = -8x + 10
now try to get rid of the 2 so y is single
2y div 2 = .5(-8x+10)
y = -4x + 5 ~~

im actually in algebra II this year and we just learned this. You have to plug in 0 for x. The problem would look like this 8(0) + 2y=10. Next you multiply 8 by 0 which is obviously 0. Subtract the 0 and you are left with 2y=10. Divide the 10 by the 2y. And your Answer is y=5.

8x+2y = 10.
first you have to get the y on one side, by subtracting 8x from each side.
8x+2y - 8x = 10 - 8x
2y = 10 - 8x
then, you must divide by 2 on eachside, to further isolate the y.
2y / 2 = 10/2 - 8x /2
(on paper, you would place 10 - 8x over 2, but for this case we'll just divide each number individually.)
y = 5 - 4x.
Hope this helps!

8x+2y=10
-8x -8x subtract 8x from both sides
_________
2y=10-8x you should end up with this
2y/2= (10-8x)/2 Now, we want to get Y by itself, so divide 2 from both sides
____________
y=(10-8x)/2 or y=(10/2) - (8x/2) solve for Y
y=5-4x You should Get this

The equation may be 357 = one hundred fifty + 0.23x the position x is the style of miles because there's a fee of $one hundred fifty, plus 0.23 in line with mile. to resolve: Subtract one hundred fifty from each and each fringe of the equation to remove the only hundred fifty. 207 = 0.23x Divide each and each side by ability of 0.23 to get x on my own 900 = x so that you'll go back and forth 900 miles. wish this facilitates!
