Do you think the MLB should have a salary cap?

Yes, I'm a Yankees fan, but I still think baseball should have a salary cap. All this small market, big market, that keeps Torii Hunter, Johan Santana and possibly Joe Nathan kills the Twins. There's always a select group who can sign a big free agent. Smaller teams have to go for a steal, and once those grow up, they're gone too.

So my question, salary cap or not?

No, because nothing will change. You will still have owners in places such as Florida, Pittsburgh, & Kansas City who feel that a whole team can be run on 30-40 million dollars.

There will still only be a few teams that could approach a reasonable cap such as Yankees, Mets, Red Sox, and Dodgers.

Nice dream, but the owners will never allow that to happen.

I think its better for football right now. But say if The MLB were to try the salry cap then they should set it high right now and then mayble leter in the years when they get familiar with it be more strict with it. But yah I think it would be more competitveness for the world series. I mean it sucks to watch teams that won it all last to end up in last place or lose in the first round. Thats why football is the most popular sport in america. There is so much consistency. And upsets and shocks don't come by often and you apreciate it when it does. So salary cap would be great for all sports it brings out competivness. Which is good.

No I don't think there should be one because there wouldn't be any trades if there is a salary cap. Like football you will receive a cap penalty when you trade someone, which is why you rarely see a trade in the NFL. Trades in baseball makes it exciting, also you need trades for a long 162 game season. Although I do agree with you comments but it just kills trades.

I think not having a salary cap makes the game and offseason much more exciting than it would be with a cap. I do think maybe more luxury taxes should be in place though to give smaller market teams more money, but bigger markets should not be penalized.

No, look what it has done to football. Teams should spend on their minor league systems and build from within.

No.

Not needed, would cause more problems than it purports to address, and would be an overkill dosage of "solving the wrong problem".
