I estimate 3/10. Although, you could solve it by finding the GCD:

9 1/10 - 8 8/10 = 3/10 --- because 4/5 = 8/10

Multiply 9 by the denominator (10) then add the numerator(1) and put the whole thing over the original denominator:

(9x10) +1)/10 = 91/10

Do the same for the other one but first make sure that both equations have the same common denominator...so you have to multiply 4/5 by 2 so its 8/10 which is the same as 4/5 but not simplified:

(8x10)+8)/10=88/10

now subtract those 2 values:

91/10 - 88/10 = 3/10

Answer: 3/10 or .3
