There are actually several ways you can put an operating system on to a USB flash drive. Of course, you have to use a flash drive with at least 1GB. In addition, which operating system were you considering. You can put a modified version of Windows XP, called Bart PE, on to a 1GB flash drive - more memory is preferable but 1GB would suffice. You will need a genuine Windows XP CD in order to create Bart PE - just use the one which came with your PC. In addition, you can fit a Linux based operating system on to a flash drive. There are several Linux based OS you can use such as Damn Small Linux (DSL) -I didn't make up the name. DSL is absolutely free. You can also try Knoppix which is another Linux based OS. You can Google "DSL" and/or "Knoppix" to find where you can download them. If you have any problems, drop me an e-mail.

OMG IF ONLY IT WERE POSSIBLE... sadly it is not... a computer operating system is dependant on drivers to work... me and my father found this out when he made the dumb mistake of trying to just transfer a hard drive over to another computer to make it work (which i knew would not work) sorry its just not possible with todays technology

I suppose you could, but I don't know how you could get your comp to boot from it.
