At the companies I know where they hire contractors, the money is still good. Remember that contractors don't get benefits, which costs a company money. Jobs are still in demand because of offshoring - sounds strange, doesn't it? But because so many jobs have been offshored and people have been let go locally, there are definitely times when local help is needed. They won't hire people F/T, so they hire contractors.

Once all the Y2K prep work was done, the mega money was over although they still do well, but there aren't as many jobs available.
