Which one is better dish network or direct tv? i want to pay between 25-40. which one is better?

I want one that has a lot of channels and good service and local channels. i might also want a dvr.

In my opinion Direct TV but why not investigate for yourself and compare.

We had dish for eight years and changed over to Directv. going to change back to dish when our contract runs out on directv, cause it keeps going out when it rains and it's hard to read the tv menu to find out what you want to look at.
