I believe USC is good and all but not better than OSU, it should've been OSU and Georgia, LSU got lucky into the BCS jumping all those teams in front of them.

The system is biased and arbitrary.
I don't have a huge problem with USC not being in the title game, but after the smoked cleared, they certainly should have gone into the bowl season ranked higher than 7th in the BCS. When you consider all the teams in the top 10 that lost over the last month and stayed in the top 10, it speaks to how biased the systems is.
As for Georgia, they didn't play LSU due to a quirk in the schedule, but nevertheless went into the final weekend ranked #4. Then you sit there and watch the #7 team leapfrog you into the BCS title game. That speaks to how arbitrary the process is.
Yeah, Georgia vs USC in the Rose Bowl was the match up I was rooting for, but that wasn't going to happen. Why? Because the winner of that game would have had a compelling arguement for a split national championship, and the powers that be weren't going to allow that to happen.

Nope, for what it's worth, I believe one of the criteria for consideration to play in the BCS Championship game should be that the two teams involved must at least win or tie for their conference championship if there is no championship game in their conference. Though it isn't written into the BCS criteria yet, it should be. That would summarily eliminate Georgia from consideration this year - they didn't even win their division of the SEC, let alone their conference championship.
USC has a better argument, but I think the voters sort of favor the SEC over the PAC 10 as far as strength AT THIS POINT IN TIME, and they most likely should. Over all, the SEC is stronger top to bottom than the conference out west, and that simply seems to be the way it is. I would love to see a series of games set up between the two conferences in football like we presently see in basketball between the Big 10 and the ACC; a good time would be had by all, and those meetings would definitely spawn some classics!
Sorry to get off topic there, but until there is a bonafide play-off system for the big schools in football, allowing only conference champions to compete for the big enchilada would eliminate all of this other "who should be in?" and "who should be out?" garbage we are presently forced to endure.
This year, then, with all the upsets, I think LSU and Ohio State deserve to be there, simply based on their conference championships in two of the strongest conferences. It's the best we can do the way things are...

I am a USC alum. I do believe Division I College Football
needs a playoff. I like the 8 team concept. The BCS needs to be thrown to the scrap heap of history. Missouri plays a tougher schedule, and the team they beat (Kansas) with a MUCH weaker schedule gets a 4 million dollar payday?
The nation was robbed of the best matchup in 2003 (USC v. LSU) and again this season by the BCS,& the Rose Bowl Committee. This season was a disgrace to a great game.

Who is the hottest team right now is immaterial. The entire season has to be considered, not just the portion where your team did well. Duh.
Georgia was #3 in the SEC behind LSU and Tennessee. It makes no sense that they would be in the NC game. They didn't even make the SEC title game.
And if you look real hard you will find that USC and Georgia are not even playing each other.

Not necessarily.
They may be the hottest, but as far as I'm concerned, it's all about who just happens to be ranked #1 and #2 after the first weekend in December. OSU and LSU just happened to be it. We all just have to deal it.
As a Georgia fan I'm not going to complain. My guys had an excellent year. But we have only ourselves to blame. Shouldn't have lost to South Carolina, and shouldn't have come out flat vs. UT.
The BCS system is screwed up. I would strongly prefer an 8-team playoff, which would include teams like USC, UGA, and Oklahoma. Would make for a lot less controversy. But the BCS is what we have, and given the system, I think OSU vs. LSU was a good matchup, but lots of teams had cases.
My guys are loaded with talented undeclassmen, so we'll be serious contenders in '08 and '09.

being the hottest team in the country DOES NOT make you the best team in the country. Georgia isn't even the second best team in their conference. I still think USC plays a disgustingly weak schedule. Maybe Oklahoma and VT? OSU has only one loss even though they play a weak schedule too, but by being the only one loss team in a "major" conference I guess they have to be in. I am a firm believer that if you don't even play for your conference championship you have no claim for the national title.

Ok first off, the Rose Bowl is reserved for the top team in the Pac-10 and the Big-Ten excluding a team in the Nat'l Championship. Second, if this was the 'Real' Title Game, USC wouldn't be in it because they have nothing against LSU and OSU.

Georgia maybe. They had early season losses to two respectable teams. USC....definitely not. They lost to Stanford.........S-t-a-n-f-o-r-d. C'mon give me a break. If LSU had lost to Tulane or Louisiana Tech, they wouldn't even let them play in a bowl game. LSU is pretty banged up, but they have done one thing that has them playing for the National Title game and that is....win. No matter how you chalk it up. A win is a win. Geaux Tigers!!!

LSU and Ohio State probably have the two best resumes, but USC and UGA are playing the best football now IMO. UGA hasn't lost since 10/6, and had the same in-conference record as both SECCG participants. Doesn't really make sense to me that losing to Tennessee DQs from the national title game, but losing to Arkansas at home in November doesn't.

I don't think Georgia really deserves playing in the NCG because they didn't even make to the SEC Chmp. Game, but i do believe USC is worthy. A team like Oklahoma or LSU should be the other team.
