There are two different singers for the first Shrek movie, one for the movie and one for the soundtrack. "John Cale's version was featured in the 2001 animated film Shrek. Rufus Wainwright covered the song as well, and his version appears on the film's soundtrack album rather than Cale's. This is apparently because Wainwright is signed with Dreamworks SKG and Cale is not"

I just discovered this song a couple of months ago and looked up much info about it. I heard U2s version and fell in love with it. Their version is more fast paced. I since have looked up many different versions of it and love them all.

Nicole is right, it's John Cale... though I prefer the Jeff Buckley version. Makes me cry every time. Beautiful.
