Usually in any spyware or antivirus program, when you see "auto protect", means that there is a background scanner and the software is asking you to "auto protect", a file you have on your system, called "lotus notes".

I would never use Nortons for reasons I don't wish to get into. And I can only assume that you have "Lotus", on your system.

I would strongly recommend you invest in finding a reliable and qualified technician who can properly setup your computer and walk you through some basics.

Lotus Notes is an email client that is generally used by businesses. So if you are being asked to turn on some auto protection for it... then I would probably do it.

You may not be very computer friendly but before you loaded up that computer and decided to go on the internet was when you needed to make a decision to become friendly with it... otherwise the worm is very quickly going to turn on you...

You need to at a minimum get that computer properly secured and protected with your symantec program completely installed (making sure it includes firewall, antivirus, antispyware, etc) and that its properly configured (such as protecting your email) and completely up to date... you'll also need to get your operating system up to date and hardened and keep it that way with some basic maintenance.

hence, the reliable and qualified technician to at LEAST get you started.

Good Luck

Unless you have the program called "Lotus Notes" (an e mail client) installed on your computer, you can simply ignore "enable lotus notes auto protect".

Enjoy!
