I went into college knowing i didn't want to go. the only reason i did is so i could have insurance b/c i have a permanent sickness i have to deal wit and so i could have a place to live b/c my mother likes to put people out on the street. I'm an 18 year old female in northwest indiana just starting out . I'm looking for a job but its really hard b/c the jobs i apply for always say they are looking for more experience but people with more experience had to start of somewhere right? but i was thinking of taking up an trade but i don't know what trade i can do as a female mentally and physically. it would be wonderful if somone could really give me some advice or guidance.

Start applying at McDonald's.
We are illiterate? And you "meant" you were going to drop out and get a trade? What the hell is a trade?

I'm a very lazy 13 year old, but i put forth effort and I try to work for my goals as hard as I can. I am not failing classes and i only have two C's. It's amazing what some raw talent and effort can do for people. I think you should try to stay a while longer and see what college can really do for you. Once you finish, people will accept you at some jobs and you will get experience. Once you do that, you can have a good job. I hope this helps you.

You need to try to rise above how you have been treated. I am sorry that you are ill. There are several organizations that the caring individuals have referenced in their replies. I think you need to try to tough out college until you find what you're looking for. I'd suggest the forces, but if you are ill I'm not sure what their requirements would be. Maybe what you could also try is to look to your faith and get support from a church minister near you...maybe all you need is an ear who will listen and they may be able to get you some of the lodging support you may need if you do quit school. I hope you can be strong and try to see college through. Take care.

I was in your situation a few months ago. Like a week after I started college I really thought I wasn't interested in my courses anymore and was wasting my time. I was really staying, like you said, just because of the insurance, I have a health problem too where I need the insurance. But seriously, hang in there, it gets better the more you do it, it gets more routine. Try to relax, and try to enjoy it. Try to talk to people and make friends. I was stressed and didn't want to talk to people, so I kind of alienated the kids in my class. Not much I can do about it now, but I learned my lesson and it is good to have friends. Just try to relax, go to your classes, and enjoy yourself in your spare time. Really think about what you want to do next semester, that's what I'm trying to do now. But get through this one and try to have fun. I've also had trouble finding work. Because of lack of experience. But try to relax, I know how you feel guilty about it, I feel guilty all the time, but just keep applying places, what can you do? All you can do is apply and hope for the best. Anyway, just try to relax and enjoy yourself, and get through this semester, enjoy the holidays, and try to really think about what you want to do next semester and in your future.

You must change your outlook on college. Education is the key to success.
If you want to go nowhere in life, drop out and flip burgers for the rest of your life, and live in trailers.
Get motivated, get a degree and be successful in life.
