Stores typically will say "Happy Holidays" or "Seasons Greetings," as they take your money. I'm tired of everyone being politically correct.

Merry Christmas everyone!

"Merry Christmas" back at ya!

If people are offended by a simple greeting, they are too thin skinned and it's THEIR problem, not mine!

I guess until recently I never thought of it as being politically correct. I always thought there are 3 holidays, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. Now I'm becoming so self aware I'm not sure what to say. If I say merry Christmas I could offend Jews or anyone who doesn't celebrate Christmas, if I don't say Merry Christmas other Christians might be offend. I give up, for now on I'll just say have a nice day.

And a very MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU.

Let's see, it's okay to say Happy Ramadan, Carefree Kwanza to you, Happy Hannukah, Lovely Labor Day, Happy Chinese New Year, Pleasant Passover, Rosy Rosh Hashana, Have a great Groundhog Day, Happy Arbor Day and Many Happy Returns... but it's Merry Christmas that seems to really get under people's fingernails. To those people, I say again, MERRY CHRISTMAS, not HAPPY HOLIDAYS, SEASON'S GREETINGS or X-MAS IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM!!!

Jesus is the reason for the season, so MERRY CHRISTMAS, I say again.

Stephanie Loves Sam - your answer is EXACTLY what we're getting at. People are trying to take the words Merry Christmas completely out of the word pool of any language in the world. Everyone else can mention their holiday, but instead of mentioning Christmas, we have to say Happy Holidays so as not to "offend" someone. Exactly what part of "Freedom of Religion" does that whole idea come from?

I think it's silly to get upset over what phrase some stores choose to use or not to use in their advertising. It's equally absurd for anyone to get offended at being wished a Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah or Fabulous Festivus.

Yes I do!!! It's Merry Christmas not Happy Holidays and Ho Ho Ho from a guy in a red fuzzy suit trimmed in white shouldn't insult women. This political correctness is getting out of hand. The U.S. is a Christian majority and Christmas is the celebration of Christs birth.

and a Merry Christmas to you to! it seems to me they want it both ways. they don't want Christmas mentioned, but they sure want to cash in on it. if they truly didn't want to 'offend' any other religions then they wouldn't make Christmas such a big deal in their stores, they would ignore it, not sell Christmas cards, or display anything to do with Christmas but they do.....they are hypocritical fools.
however i have noticed this past Christmas and a little more this Christmas that folks are starting to say merry Christmas once again! whatever their greeting - i always reply with a Merry Christmas as that is my belief and no one seems to mind.
typically its the government that makes this a big deal - most of our friends and neighbours - whether Chinese, Hindu, Iranian, etc. all celebrate Christmas and don't seem to mind doing it! our Jewish neighbour invites us over to celebrate his holiday and we invite them all to celebrate ours and they enjoy it!
so to heck with political correctness - i say again
Merry Christmas!

rite back at you.. I asked my boss if we could decorate for Christmas and she said no that we could get into trouble with the other people that donot celebrate or observe Christmas. If that is such an issue then why do we allow these people our holidays off and with pay and bonus's..

I agree with JoJo. I'm offended that squeaky-wheel minorities are robbing my religious holiday of any real significance--I especially hate Merry X-mas printed on things. I'm tired of politically correct everything--what about right and wrong? Why is it someone has a right to be offended by the words Merry Christmas, while the rest of us are expected to listen (with a smile and a thank you) to the drivel of any idiot who wants to jack their jaws? So, I really don't care who I offend anymore either, other than God and my loved ones. MERRY CHRISTMAS! MERRY CHRISTMAS!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! :-)
