They are excellent in snow as are most front wheel drive cars You won't need snow tires but to be safe make sure the tires are in good condition if you're buying a used car. Also, if you are considering a used car make sure the coolant and thermostat are new so that the heater works as it should and you'll be good to go.

How snowy is the area?
Civics do very very well in the snow
Thats why you drive down the freeway and see the Tahoes and the Blazers and pickups flipped over layin on the side of the street
The person in the Civic pulled over to get out and help
Buy a civic, seriously, you won't regret it

My Civic is pretty good in snow compared to other compact cars. Obviously a car that is bigger and has more weight would be better in snow. Please note that it can get stuck if the snow is high (and not plowed). Overall, it's a pretty reliable car for snow and would recommend it to anyone.
