Do you make any distinction between a ban imposed by the government or a ban imposed by the manager?

Let me know if you smoke also, or if it depends on who you are going with if visiting.

I smoke a pack a week. Tennessee just passed a statewide ban on smoking in restaurants and I do not mind. I never smoke in a restaurant anyway.... however, when I visit a bar I love to be able to smoke.

A ban on smoking in a place that servers more than appetizers is fine to me, just please let me have a cig while drinking at a bar :)

It wouldn't move me either way if smoking were banned or not. I think the only way to really know in an area where it isn't a government ban is to actually call the restaurant and ask. I can personally say that I don't know anyone who calls restaurants to find out if they ban smoking.

I do like it when I am in a smoke free area. I smoke cigarettes from time to time, but that doesn't mean when I'm eating I don't mind smoke. I hate it when someone is smoking and the smoke blows in my face or into my area.

I would be more likely to visit or work in a bar or restaurant if smoking was prohibited, whether it was by government ban or manager edict. I am allergic to smoke to the point that I can get sick from smelling it on other people's clothing. I don't smoke although I used to smoke 2 packs a day at one time!

I am a smoker and my family do not visit places we cant smoke. ie My grand parents cant stand the cold, my parents or wife either.
I have also changed my job from DJ and Office worker to a mobile rep and self employed programmer so I can live normally. I have a better quality of life excliding pubs but the rest of the family don't get out now.

Absolutely. I live in Colorado and on July 1, 2006, they imposed a state-wide smoking ban. For me, it has made going out much more enjoyable.

Why should the non-smokers have to be subject to health problems that smokers create for them?

No distinction. Smoke-free is smoke-free.

I am more likely to go to a bar if there isn't smoking. I don't smoke although I did at one time for a little while. I think it is nastey and when who leave you and your clothes stink. Its so sick.

Don't smoke.
Couldn't care less either way.
Government banning use of a legal substance in a private business is unconstitutional, period.
