How's this going to play out? "They" are trying to get Santa to say, "Ha, ha, ha!" instead of, "Ho, ho, ho!" down in Australia. It seems that the "Ho" reference is "too similar" to an American slang word for a prostitute and the Ozzies don't want their children scarred by the term.

If someone is young enough to believe in Santa Claus, where did they learn about "Ho's" in the first place?

That's old news and totally ridiculous, of course. It's just another one of those 5 minute stories that someone started...apparantly it's really to do with the loud booming voice of Santa (we call him Father Christmas here) saying, "ho, ho, ho" and scaring little kids.

You'll always get 'some people/do-gooders etc.' in society that love to sensationalise and twist things around just to get attention.
I say, Bah Humbug!
"ha ha ha, ho ho hooooo"...

Hi Sam, it's really over the top. you're not alone, Australians feel the same way, we all think it's ridiculous. In some parts of Sydney, the councils are not putting up Christmas decorations this year, because they don't want to upset the non-christians. I understand it is even worse in some parts of the UK.

Now Australia was only invaded about 230 years ago, and apart from our indigenous people (interesting culture there)we don't have a whole lot of tradition going on. To kill this vital part of it affects who we are, and it's real Scrooge McDuck stuff.

A few zealots of the politically correct cult squirm out of the woodwork , and try to cocoon everything that is not in their own warped and narrow view of what the world should be.

We're going to end up with a clinical world, sterile and cold.

I reckon they should all go home and have a drink or an orgy or something to lighten up and get their minds off spoiling our world. It's really sad :o(

It's the same thing with the USA[so I heard]. Parents are blaming Santa Claus[an imaginary person btw] for making their kids OBESE. They are going to make Santa SKINNY and make him eat CARROTS! And get this, he only comes ONCE a year, and he's supposedly making kids FAT!

And yes, I heard they are changing "Ho Ho Ho" to "Ha Ha Ha". What kind of garbage is that?!?! Oh and btw, the word isn't even ho. It's w**** for crying out loud!

since when does a Santa saying Ho Ho Ho scar children. In America we know the difference between Ho Ho Ho from a guy in a red furry suit and a black dude calling you a ho. Surely the Australians know this too. People are getting afraid to say anything for fear of offending someone else. It is ridiculous. Let us have our Santa and his HO HO HO! For goodness sake it is Christmas.

I incredibly laughed out loud when I examine the object, how can our society be falling aside lots that youngsters inocense is being demolished at an till now and till now age? "ho ho ho"is a hallmark of Santa, that's not a connection with any sort of lady. that's not merely un-mandatory censorship, that's a theft of any youngster's delusion. flow away SANTA on my own!!

I know, its ridiculous. I heard this story about a week ago, but who can imagine Santa saying ha ha ha. Its just not right, and not mention that this saying has been around forever - who the hell thinks they have the right to change it?

its PC gone mad

its another example of stupid old people thinking they have a right to enforce their twisted view of the world on everyone.

i cant stand people that think they know whats right and wrong for everyone - there is a "party drug" called BZP in New Zealand, 4 years no problems - now some old fools have decided it might lead to deaths (like drinking doesnt) so they decide for everyone? whats legal and harmless now becomes illegal on 1/1/8 - nothings changed, no ones been hurt - just some old fools deciding that they have the right to make choises for others?

so its another example of the out of touch people spoiling things for everyone

ho ho bloody ho

I agree that this is ludicrous. Children don't know what "ho's' are in the first place. Unless they're referencing hoho's...(Kids love those things)
I also find this hilarious. No one I know even uses the term!

FFS, the word is w****, not ho. Silly Americans. But I agree, that's the most retarded PC story regarding Christmas I've heard yet.

So when will they ban calling a BBQ a Barbie? "Throw another shrimp on the barbie mate"
And the next time you read Snow White to your kids the dwarfs (or should that be height challenged) will sing Hi Ha Hi Ha it's off to work we go.
