Did you "bench bleed" the master cylinde before you installed it? Bench bleeding involves hooking up plastc tubes to the ports on the master cylinder, routing the tubes back to the reservoir, filling the reservoir with fluid and then working the piston with a dowel to get the air out of the master cylinder primary and secondary piston chambers.

If you didn't bleed the master cylidner you can bleed the brakes at the wheels all day and never get the air out of the master. Go to your parts store and buy the kit to bleed it--its about $2. you will not have to remove the master to bleed it; just pump the brakes after you get the tubes hooked up instead of using the dowel.

Also, make sure your rear brakes are adjusted properly. If the rear brakes are low a fully functioning hydraulic system will still result in the pedal on the floor. You can adjsut the rear brakes using the mechanical adjusters on the rear brake shoes

hope that helps

you need to make sure there is no air in the system. then adjust the brake push rod. there is an adjustment on the brake pedal. get under the dash and you will see a push rod attached to the brake pedal. loosen the jamb nut and turn the pushrod until the brakes feel good. if you get it to tight then the brakes will not release all the way, so be careful of that.

Air bubble in the system. Did you flush the system after the master cylinder? If you have ABS, then hit it few times and bleed to brake system again.

Bleed air from wheel cylinders and calipers.
