This is my current gripe as well. Men don't even GET it let alone help with it. All this stuff is so time consuming... Even when my husband does help it's only an isolated thing - he doesn't get that this stuff goes on and on and on and on.

My real answer is that during the sixties when women gained rights and more entry into the work force, the jobs at home still needed done. Since there was no national "broadcast" or billboard or amendment to the constitution about equal duties on the homefront, women were left to handle it all because men were not used to the responsibility.

PLUS, characters and role models like That Girl, or Samantha from Bewitched, or even Roseanne didn't make it any easier on t.v. as they promoted the myth that we can do it all!

Some men are brought up to be stupid about things like these. That way they'll be more dependent on their mothers. I was brought up to learn all that stuff plus the fact that I was a batchelor for several years. I help with or do alot of the cleaning, laundry, cooking plus the regular men's chores. I should have acted dumb. Oh well, too late now. If you really love em, it's not so bad pitching in and helping out fellas.

I cook, and I do my own laundry. My GF can't cook worth a damn so I'm happy to take that over. I do my own laundry out of kindness. Besides she has way more clothes than I do, and putting mine with hers will just mean that mine get lost.

I'm not in charge of cleaning though. I am simply NO good at it. If she tells me to do a certain task, I do it, but I wouldn't know to do it in the first place! LOL! I'm just helpless there. So the game plan is that she's "In charge", but I provide muscle.

Men are stuck in the 1950's in that regard, except they aren't supporting us to stay home to do all that stuff anymore. Now we gotta do it all, work and chores with no help to boot. They talk about women being screwed up by womans lib....whatever. It should be 50/50, but it isn't. When you've had enough, your guy will learn a new word. It's called strike, it usually works well if you can handle living in a dump for awhile, you've just got to stick with it. Oh and another helpful hint, never get your man a recliner, his butt cheeks will never leave it after he sits in it the first time, then you will never get any help around the house.

We don't have to, but I know speaking for myself I choose to. My man helps with laundry and cleaning the house or tending to the kids, but I don't like him in the kitchen at all. I know we are all better off he does as little in there as possible.

they don't. it's your choice every time you do the dishes or laundry. you are choosing your situation. what do you get out of it. what would happen if you didn't make dinner? try it.
yes, it is culturally normal. why do men always have to mow the yard, clean the gutters, change the oil, fix the heater, fix the toilet, fix the car, fix the washing machine.
talk to your man about this.
you don't have to do anything you don't want to do. realize that you're making a choice. think about why you make that choice.

They don't, if they don't do it it won't get done in most cases.
I cook, clean, launder, and I don't mind. The wife just has a more stressful job than I so I like to make the house nice.
I don't like messy things and I enjoy cooking.

But I don't HAVE to clean the house, I just want to.
